The Difference in Comfort Keepers Home Care

We offer a variety of advantages that set us apart from other home care providers:

  • No matter when you call us, 24/7, you will speak with one of our staff members. You will never be forwarded to an answering service. Call us any time at 440-734-1111!
  • We are an approved provider by Ohio's PASSPORT program, which helps Medicaid-eligible seniors receive in-home care.
  • Even though we provide non-medical in-home care services, we have a registered nurse who meets with new clients to develop a plan of care.

And two very significant differences you will discover about Comfort Keepers are the quality of our senior caregivers and the style and effectiveness of the home care they provide, which we explain below.

Truly Gifted Caregivers

We are very particular about the senior caregivers we hire and have developed a thorough screening process to help us find the very best.

As we screen and interview candidates, we first look for individuals who demonstrate a gift and genuine, heartfelt desire to help seniors maintain a high quality, safe, independent lifestyle at home. The people we hire as Comfort Keepers consider senior caregiving a calling – not a job.

We initially screen candidates in a phone interview and invite the best for an in-person interview at which they meet our office staff.  Comfort Keepers complete orientation and training, a one-hour competency review with a registered nurse, an extensive take-home test, and fingerprinting and background checks.

Comfort Keepers also complete quarterly training and testing, managed by a registered nurse, on a variety of topics such as Alzheimer’s care and safe lifting techniques.

Interactive Caregiving™

Interactive Caregiving™, our distinctive brand of elder care, is based on research that proves that seniors who are actively engaged in life—physically, mentally and emotionally—enjoy better health, are happier, and maintain independence longer. Our Comfort Keepers allow their clients to be as involved in their own care as they are able. And they engage seniors in a wide variety of activities that include physical exercise, such as walking, mental activity, such as solving puzzles or engaging in hobbies, and social activities, such as visiting friends or going to favorite places, such as church, a senior center or museum.

Providing seniors opportunities to stay engaged in activities that interest them gives them a sense of purpose and control, prevents depression, promotes independence and enhances well-being.

Comfort Keepers Services

Comfort Keepers offers a wide range of services that can be tailored to provide the exact degree of support that a senior needs to continue living safely, happily and independently at home. Depending on a senior’s and his or her family’s needs, we can schedule from just a few hours of service a week to full-time in-home care. Our services include:

  • Companionship Care. These services include conversation, meal preparation and light housekeeping reminders to take medications, standby help with dressing and grooming, transportation and errands.
  • Personal Care. These services protect seniors’ dignity as Comfort Keepers provide assistance with personal hygiene, such as bathing or showering, grooming, skin care, toileting
incontinence care, feeding and assistance with mobility and transfers.
  • Respite Care provides family caregivers an opportunity to take time off from senior caregiving—whether for just a few hours or for a vacation. A Comfort Keeper can be scheduled to relieve a family caregiver as needed.
  • Post-Hospital Care and Support. Comfort Keepers care for seniors and other clients to help them recover at home following surgery or a hospital stay for treatment of injury or illness.
  • Hospice Care. Comfort Keepers provide supportive services to promote comfort and quality of life of clients who are receiving hospice nursing care.

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care is a growing area of specialty for Comfort Keepers of North Olmsted, as the prevalence of these conditions continues to rise. We provide our Comfort Keepers special training to enable clients to live safely at home at various stages of Alzheimer’s and dementia. The training prepares Comfort Keepers to recognize the warning signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia and to promote the quality of life and safety of persons with these conditions.
