What separates us from other in-home or assisted living organizations?

Professional Comfort Keepers®

Every individual Comfort Keeper® is carefully selected, screened, and trained to give capable and compassionate care for families and seniors. To become a “Comfort Keeper,” our carefully selected and trained Comfort Keepers, one must undergo a thorough and rigorous screening process. We are extremely selective, hiring on average only 1 for every 30 who call us for employment. Rather than just meeting the minimum state requirements or hiring quickly to fill a need, we conduct an extensive series of background checks, including credit, criminal, and driving checks for every single applicant.

We also require our Comfort Keepers® to undergo rigorous training which, we believe, is second to none including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson's disease training. The next phase of their development is called Interactive Training, a critical aspect of care that Comfort Keepers has developed and formalized. This preparation enables our Comfort Keepers to create an environment of engaging and stimulating interaction, thereby cultivating mental vitality and emotional wellbeing for each of our clients.

To provide the ultimate peace of mind, we take many unique steps to protect you and your loved ones. It is extremely important, we believe, to only hire Comfort Keepers as employees, thereby enabling us to supervise, insure, bond, and cover our employees with Workmans’ compensation. And to make sure you don’t become an accidental employer, we also handle all payroll taxes (see “How to Choose an Agency”).

But knowing how to do the job—as critical as that is—isn’t quite enough. Our Comfort Keepers are unique because each must pass not only our psychological behavioral test, but also what we refer to as the “lovability test.” We hold our Comfort Keepers to the absolute highest standards, but if we don’t sense a big, warm, tender heart, they’re not invited to join our team. We only accept the most dedicated, wonderful, caring people to work for our organization, because all agencies are not alike. Many people can become a comfortkeeper; only a few can be a Comfort Keeper.

Personalized Home Care Service

One of our trained team members will help provide quality information every time you contact us, even after hours, because we always have a live person available to speak with. To determine you or your loved one’s needs, we provide a free initial in-home assessment. We help design a plan of care while working around your schedule and including family and your other advisors.

Because we treat each of our clients as an individual, we take such extraordinary consideration in matching our clients with just the right Comfort Keeper. After assessing the client’s personality and interests, only then do we match a client with a Comfort Keeper. We also work to develop a unique program that keeps our clients mentally and physically challenged, to fit his or her specific needs.

Since our unique Kitsap Comfort Keepers can work anywhere from a few hours, full-time, and everything in between, our clients also have the say in how much time his or her Comfort Keeper will work. By constantly obtaining feedback from our Comfort Keepers, once a program is up and running we make sure to keep all parties updated of any possible concerns and important changes we make.

To make sure your loved one is consistently receiving the type of care he or she needs, we provide frequent client and Comfort Keeper supervision. Experience has taught us that matching people with the personal, accommodating in-home care they desire also gives them the freedom, independence, and dignity they deserve. Indeed, it’s this type of personalized services that enables our clients to enjoy a better state of wellness and quality of life.
