Senior Care for Elders with Alzheimer’s and Dementia
Comfort Keepers®, known throughout Cape Cod, South Shore and Metro West, Massachusetts, for its compassionate and professional in-home senior care, is proud to offer high-quality care for elder loved-ones who are struggling with Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related conditions. As a co-founder of the South Shore Alzheimer’s partnership, owner Raquel Mullaney has maintained the Co-Chairman position for six years and is familiar with the struggles that families face when a loved one is diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer’s.
Many times, these seniors become disoriented or suffer from short-term memory lapses. This can lead to confusion which is dangerous if the senior wanders and becomes lost.
Comfort Keepers caregivers are specially-trained to assist seniors who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and dementia. For each client, a customized care service plan is created to define exactly the care that each senior needs and the services that Comfort Keepers will provide.
Encouraging the Improvement of Each Senior’s Quality of Life
Some of the services that the specially-trained, friendly and compassionate caregivers provide include:
- Listening and dancing to music
- Working puzzles or other on other hobbies and crafts
- Taking walks in the neighborhood
- Working on household projects together
- Looking through photo albums
- And many more
These activities are designed to stimulate the senses of the senior, which works to improve their overall quality of life.
End-of-Life Senior Care
In addition to providing compassionate Alzheimer’s and dementia senior care for elders, compassionate caregivers also care for senior loved-ones who have been diagnosed with terminal illnesses. Comfort Keepers offers companionship and personal care services in addition helping around the house, which provides support, both morally and emotionally, to the entire family.
This help can be through a medical agency partnership, a hospice agency partnership or simply working directly with the family. The goal is to meet the needs of the family and help families make the most of the time they can spend together.
Respite Care Services
Comfort Keepers is able to provide much-needed and important rest to families through respite care services. Many times, family caregivers rarely or never get time for themselves. They are so dedicated to helping their senior loved-ones, they cannot take breaks and other areas of their lives suffer. Through respite care services from Comfort Keepers, family caregivers have a few hours off every week, giving them time to shop and pay bills or even to just take a nap.
