In choosing caregivers in and around the East Bay to become our Comfort Keepers, we look for people who are sensitive to others’ needs, compassionate, skilled as well as experienced, willing to learn, and patient. We only give a job to caregivers who we would trust to care for our loved ones.
Comfort Keepers interviews all their candidates, twice in person as well as once over the phone, to be certain that only the best caregivers work with our clients. Comfort Keepers checks their references carefully. Potential caregivers also complete pre-employment training as well as an orientation. Our Comfort Keepers get even more training once hired, and annually complete at least 12 hours of courses on topics such as senior nutrition, fall prevention, ambulation and mobility, and Interactive Caregiving™. Interactive Caregiving™ is our special brand of senior care that engages clients socially, physically, and mentally for the highest quality of life.
Our potential caregivers go through intense background checks upon being hired as well as twice a year once employed, better ensuring the security of our clients as well as our clients’ families. Both national and local criminal checks are included in this process. Comfort Keepers covers their caregivers with Workers’ Compensation insurance, which protects our clients and their families. Furthermore, since our caregivers are employees of Comfort Keepers, we deal with their payroll taxes, as well as insuring and bonding them, all of which is done so our clients’ and their families’ can relax and feel safe.

We have an advanced system tracking and scheduling that updates a manager any time a Comfort Keeper leaves or arrives at a client’s home, further ensuring responsive, dependable service.
