Independent Living Services from Comfort Keepers® Serving Walnut Creek, Fremont, the Tri-Valley and more

All of our clients have specific care needs.  In order to create care plans that offer our seniors, as well as other adult clients, the correct types and amount of help to support independent living at home, Comfort Keepers offers a comprehensive set of in-home services in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. The special caregivers we call Comfort Keepers provide these services, to support full and independent living. Some Comfort Keepers services are:

Personal Care Services

Incontinence & Toileting Care

We help our clients maintain self-esteem and dignity as they get help with daily living activities; this is done by sensitively and compassionately caring for seniors and other adults.  In order to help to minimize the embarrassment of our clients connected to the loss of independence related to a need for toileting assistance or incontinence, or caregivers utilize this caring approach.

Positioning & Transferring

To promote safety, health and proper functioning of the body's many systems, Comfort Keepers are trained to move and place clients in correct posture positions. Proper positioning and transferring into or from chairs and beds eliminates pressure areas on the skin, minimizes stiffening and weakening of muscles, and promotes proper digestion, elimination and breathing.

Grooming, Hygiene, & Bathing

Our caregivers help seniors, and other adults, feel and look their best. Helping seniors, and other adults, feel positive about their appearance; these services help seniors’ physical and mental well-being. Bathing can stimulate circulation, refresh the spirit, and provide relaxation, it goes deeper than just cleaning the skin.

Special Diets & Feeding

Adults might require help feeding themselves for any number of reasons. Forfeiting this independence can be difficult to come to terms with. We comprehend this and make extra effort to transform mealtime into a time that is both social and delightful.

Also, we help make sure that seniors, as well as other adult clients, stay on prescribed diets. This controls or prevents a large array of medical conditions, including: diabetes, osteoporosis, and heart disease. Our caregivers in the Bay Area help seniors eat a diet that is well balanced and offers the energy needed for living actively and disease preventing nutrients, this provides healthful living and healing.

Mobility Assistance

In order to help seniors keep a lifestyle that is as active as possible, our caregivers throughout the East Bay and beyond help seniors with their mobility as needed. There are mental as well as physical health benefits to seniors when they are able to be mobile. A strengthened heart, increased energy as well as stamina, improved sleep and digestion, and lower blood pressure are just some of the physical benefits of senior mobility. Activity also releases stress, increases mental alertness, and helps mood.

We can work in partnership with a medical provider or hospice agency or directly help the client’s family, whatever is necessary to completely meet the needs of the family.

The ultimate goal of Comfort Keepers is to help ease the burden in a very hard period and allow families to make the most of their time together. Comfort Keepers gives family caregivers needed rest, with respite care.

In-Home Companionship and Care Services

Light Housekeeping

Our caregivers’ light housekeeping services include cleaning kitchens (taking out trash, appliances, sinks, as well as counters), dusting, mopping & sweeping floors, vacuuming, straightening all rooms, cleaning any interior windows that can be reached without a ladder, organizing drawers and closets, as well as cleaning bathrooms (toilets, tubs, showers, and sinks). Outdoor maintenance or cleaning is not offered by Comfort Keepers.

Live-In Services

From full-time care to just a few hours a week, we develop our care solutions with the needs of the individual client considered. Comfort Keepers provides full-time caregiving by caregivers who live in the home of the client to give in-home care daily, through our live-in services. The type of non-medical in-home care service is something decided on by the client and their loved ones.
Live-in services give loved ones peace of mind, protecting from gaps in coverage for clients who may be at risk when left alone, like those with dementia-related conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease.

Laundry

Including drying, ironing, putting things away, and washing, laundry services can be done in either the Laundromat or the home of the client. To be certain laundry is done according to the clients’ preferences, our caregivers make sure our clients are involved.

Companionship & Conversation

Our caregivers are there to chat with our clients and give them company, or to have a meal with them. This kind of social contact is proven to boost the happiness, quality of life, and health of seniors.

Incidental Transportation

Comfort Keepers offers transportation when incidental to other care services, these include taking them to barbershops, medical appointments, shopping, beauty salons, or wherever else a client wants to go. An important part of our Interactive Caregiving™, getting seniors out and about is good for their body, spirit, and mind.

Medication Reminders

Our caregivers can help make sure that seniors, and other adults, take their medication as prescribed, though our caregivers cannot administer medications. Our caregivers can help the client remember when it is time to take a dose, as well as helping with opening containers of medication, and reading labels.

Grooming Guidance

Our in-home caregivers help seniors, and other adults, with combing and washing their hair as well as other grooming tasks. This care service helps seniors feel good about their appearance.

Grocery Shopping/Errands

Our caregivers run errands like: going to the post office, picking up prescriptions, or grocery shopping at stores of their clients’ preference. Seniors have the option to either help with the errands and shopping as a great way to stay engaged and active, or to stay home if they would like. We will use any coupons given by the clients.

Meal Preparation

Our senior caregivers make delicious, nutritious, and hot meals, giving our clients the option to help with preparing the meal according to their ability. This service provides seniors with a way to get the nutrition they need to enjoy living healthier, because many of our clients don’t have the option to eat a well-balanced meal.

Respite Care or Relief for Family

Caregiving can be a valuable experience and in many cases strengthens family bonds. But caregiving can be demanding among other responsibilities in life as well.

24-Hour Care

We can offer full-time in-home care to just a few hours of service a week, dependant on the client’s needs. A team of caregivers coordinate caregiving responsibilities in shifts around the clock through our 24-hour care service. This offers clients as well as their loved ones peace of mind 24 hours a day.

Non-medical in-home care services that are more specific can be designed to meet each senior’s individual needs. Clients who are at risk when left alone, such as persons with dementia-related conditions, like Alzheimer’s disease, are perfect for this kind of continuous in-home care service.

Family caregivers can gain a lot from some time off every once in a while, and so can those in their care. This is why we offer respite caregiving. Scheduled as needed, this service gives family caregivers time to go shopping, get some much-needed rest, or run errands.
