Senior Care in San Fernando Valley

Helping Seniors throughout North Hills, Reseda, Van Nuys, North Hollywood, Valley Village, Sun Valley & Surrounding Communities in California

We set the standard for quality in-home care for seniors and other adults. Our in-home care stands apart from that of other providers for two primary reasons. First, our Comfort Keepers—the special name we give our caregivers—care from the heart. Caregiving comes natural for them; they have a gift for serving and enhancing the lives of seniors. Second, is the distinctive system of Comfort Keepers care—Interactive Caregiving—which makes seniors and other adult clients active participants in their own care. As a result of this approach, our clients achieve a heightened level of confidence, independence and quality of life.

Comfort Keepers Care from the Heart

Our priority when recruiting Comfort Keepers is identifying those candidates who have prior senior caregiving education and experience, and who have a genuine interest in serving seniors and promoting their safety and independence. Many of our caregivers are currently or have been certified nursing assistants, home health aides or licensed vocational nurses. They find great satisfaction in enabling seniors to continue living in the comfort of their own homes.

Before we hire Comfort Keepers candidates, they complete a thorough screening process that includes background checks and interviews. We take great care in making sure they meet our stringent requirements. One key test all candidates must pass is whether we would feel comfortable having them care for one of our own loved ones.

Before beginning their service, Comfort Keepers must complete nine hours of orientations. We thoroughly prepare them to deliver the unique Comfort Keepers system of care. We also provide them training, which continues through their tenure with us. We welcome clients’ family members and provide training as needed.

We further assure the success of Comfort Keepers care by carefully matching clients and caregivers based on their personalities, interests, caregivers’ specialized skills and clients’ care needs. Our supervisors check on a regular basis to make certain the match is working to the benefit of the client—and to make changes if needed.

Interactive Caregiving™

Through Interactive Caregiving, Comfort Keepers promote their clients’ independence by encouraging them to play as active a role in their own care as they are able. They also intersperse routine personal and companionship care with activities that engage seniors, physically, mentally, socially and emotionally, and enhance their enjoyment and quality of life.

Such activities, based on clients’ interests and abilities, may include physical activities, such as walking or dancing; mental stimulation, such as playing games, working puzzles or engaging in hobbies; and social activities, such as visiting friends or going to church or a senior center.

In Partnership with Families

Comfort Keepers allows families to be as involved in their loved one’s care as much as they desire. But no matter the level of a family’s involvement, we keep families updated on their love one’s care and share with them any changes we have observed or concerns we have.

For families who are actively involved in their loved one’s care, Comfort Keepers offers respite care. This important service allows family caregivers to take a break from caregiving, to get needed rest for a few hours, take a vacation or tend to other responsibilities. Comfort Keepers come into the home to care for the loved one until the family caregiver returns, rested and re-energized.
