About Comfort Keepers®

Our Story

Bonnie Warren, our owner and the heart behind Comfort Keepers, first realized her passion for helping seniors during her years as a banker.  Day after day, she met senior clients who were devastated by the fact that they needed to spend down their hard-earned savings in order to move into an assisted living facility when really, they just needed some extra help with their daily activities. She thought to herself, “There’s a need here.” Then, in 2002, she read a newspaper article about a new agency opening in Mentor called Comfort Keepers. As she read, she discovered that not only was Comfort Keepers providing exactly the services for which she saw a need, but they were also part of a franchise system.  Her wheels started turning. She was so passionate about the needs of seniors in her community that she decided to invest her retirement savings in her very own Comfort Keepers office, which she opened on May 1, 2003-the day she turned 60.

Her philosophy was simple: Hire quality Caregivers who love what they do, and Clients will enjoy excellent care, be able to maintain their independence and stay in their homes at an affordable rate.

Now, 8 years later, Bonnie has been joined by her son Jack who manages the company’s business operations. Together, they have expanded the company and now serve Ashtabula, Lake, Geauga, Lorain, Medina, Ashland, & Richland Counties.

We are honored that our caring team of more than 100 Comfort Keepers gets to help people stay Healthy, Happy and At-home.

Our Staff

Our compassionate, professional Caregivers, whom we refer to as Comfort Keepers, set us apart from other in-home senior care agencies. Caregiving is more than a job to them. It’s a joy!

To ensure that we hire only the best Caregivers possible, all Comfort Keepers must pass a rigorous screening process that includes national criminal background and motor vehicle record checks, random drug and alcohol screenings, and personal and business references. They also complete a thorough interview and testing process as well as extensive orientation, training, and professional development. And every year, Comfort Keepers complete continuing education and training to maintain and enhance their skills.

Our Client Care Coordinators take the time to match each Client with Comfort Keepers who have similar personality traits and interests. This often results in deep and enduring friendships that further enrich the lives of clients and enhance their health and well-being.
