The Owners' Story

Sarah Short and Mary Perkins are a mother-daughter team serving the Lake Cumberland and Cumberland Valley areas of Kentucky.  Sarah and Mary are passionate about older adults and their desire to stay in their homes for as long as possible.

Sarah was led into the field of social work after her father, whose opinion she respects and trusts, told her that he felt it a profession that is consistent with her values and faith.  Sarah soon found her passion in working with older adults because of the great respect she had for her grandparents and many other "elders" she encountered along life's journey.  Sarah graduated with honors from Georgetown College with a major in sociology.  She went on to the University of Kentucky to obtain her Master of Social Work degree along with a Graduate Certificate in Gerontology from Sanders-Brown Center on Aging.  Sarah has a true passion for working with older adults and their families.

Mary holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mary Manse College.  She began her career as an elementary school teacher and then served as a stay-at-home mother for her three daughters.  Mary has done much volunteer work during her lifetime, and actually started caregiving with Comfort Keepers several years ago as a way to serve others.
