Home Care in Beachwood, Ohio

Comfort Keepers® of Beachwood, Ohio, provides seniors and other adults assistance with the activities of daily living, so they can continue to maintain a high quality of independence in the comfort of their own homes – where they most want to be. Comfort Keepers’ distinctive brand of in-home senior care actively involves clients in their own care—enhancing their level of independence and enriching their lives physically, mentally, socially and emotionally.

We customize care for each client, providing as little as a few hours of care a week to full-time care—whatever is needed to enable the client to live safely, happily and independently at home. Our compassionate caregivers—Comfort Keepers—work alongside our clients’ families, helping them provide for their loved ones’ care and giving them the assurance that their loved one is in good hands when they can’t be present.

The Comfort Keepers Difference

There are many providers of home-based senior care. But none provide care that matches the quality of Comfort Keepers. Here are examples of how we stand above the rest:

  • Comfort Keepers is one of only three in-home elder care providers that are endorsed by Cleveland Clinic’s Senior Healthwise Connection
  • Our franchise has been approved by Ohio's PASSPORT program, which provides home care services to Medicaid-eligible seniors
  • While we specialize in non-medical home care, we have registered nurses on staff who develop care plans for our clients
  • We are always ready to take your call for help. Even if you call our office in the middle of the night, you will speak with one of our staff members. You will never to be forwarded to an answering service.

Two very significant differences you will find are the quality of our caregivers and the distinctive style and effectiveness of the care they provide.

Genuine Caregiving

Comfort Keepers caregivers are the best in the business. That is because we hire only people who have a genuine desire to serve seniors. Through our thorough screening process we narrow the field of candidates to those who demonstrate a gift for caregiving. The people we are looking for consider caregiving their calling, and not a job.

The screening process starts with a phone interview. Then we call the best to come in for an in-person interview. The screening process also includes fingerprinting and background checks. And as a drug-free workplace, we have our caregivers undergo random drug screenings.

Before they care for their first client, Comfort Keepers complete orientation and training. They also take an extensive take-home test and complete a one-hour competency review with a registered nurse.

To build and maintain their skills, they complete quarterly training and testing, directed by a registered nurse, in such areas as Alzheimer’s care and safe lifting techniques.

Our Special Brand of Caregiving: Interactive Caregiving™

Our special brand of senior care—Interactive Caregiving™--has been developed based on research that demonstrates that seniors who keep actively engaged in life—mentally, physically and emotionally—enjoy longer, happier, healthier and more independent lives. Our Comfort Keepers involve seniors in their own care, as much as they are able. Comfort Keepers also provide seniors numerous opportunities to stay active, including physical exercise, such as dancing and walking; mental activity, such as solving puzzles, continuing hobbies, and playing games; and social activities, such as visiting friends and going to senior centers, church, museums and other favorite places and events.

Research shows that the kind of activity promoted by Interactive Caregiving enhances seniors’ outlook, sense of purpose and control over their lives. As a result, they are better able to avoid depression and live healthier, more independent lives.

Comfort Keepers’ Range of Senior Care Services

Comfort Keepers customizes in-home elder care services to fit each client’s and family’s needs, from just a few hours of service a week to 24/7 care. Our services include:

  • Companionship Care, including conversation, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, assistance with dressing and grooming, errands and transportation.
  • Personal Care, such as personal hygiene assistance to promote a senior’s dignity and quality of life—including bathing and showering, grooming, skin care, toileting, incontinence care, mobility assistance, and feeding.
  • Respite Care to provide family caregivers a break from caregiving, so they can rest, go to work or get away for a longer period of time.
  • Post-Hospital Care and Support that allows seniors and other clients the opportunity to recover at home following surgery or hospital care for an illness or injury.
  • Hospice Support, in which Comfort Keepers offer supportive care, providing comfort and promoting quality of life of individuals who are receiving hospice nursing care at home.

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care is a growing specialty for Comfort Keepers of Beachwood. As life expectancy continues to increase, more people are experiencing the symptoms of dementia. Because they and their families need assistance, we provide our caregivers special training to help persons with Alzheimer’s and dementia live safely at home as the condition progresses. This training covers the warning signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia as well as ways to promote the quality of life and safety of seniors.
