Interactive Caregiving™ is a Better Kind of Home Care

Through this unique home care approach, seniors throughout California not only maintain their independence and live at home, but they are able to maintain mental and emotional vitality, enhance their wellbeing and enjoy a better quality of life.

Comfort Keepers®, the compassionate and professional home care provider serving Pasadena, Glendale, San Gabriel, Altadena, West Covina and surrounding California communities, has a special program designed to provide the highest-possible care for seniors: Interactive Caregiving™. Comfort Keepers caregivers, the highly-trained and friendly people who work directly with seniors, are all people who have shown that they have a gift for serving.

Each caregiver is carefully screened to make sure that seniors are protected and cared-for. Caregivers must have demonstrated that they enjoy and have a passion for helping others. For each senior client, Comfort Keepers works to create a customized service care package, providing each senior with the home care they need to live independently in their own homes.

Interactive Caregiving™ is a program that goes above and beyond typical home care. Caregivers make a special point to become friends with each client, engaging in activities that are not only fun but helpful in keeping the senior’s mind and body active and healthy.

These activities include:

  • Making quilts
  • Listening and dancing to music
  • Sharing stories and memories
  • Attending events at church or at the local senior center
  • Taking walks around the neighborhood
  • Working together on household chores
  • And more!

According to research, the more active the senior can stay, the lower their chance is of falling. Additionally, the more active a senior is, the less likely they are of contracting serious illness. Through Interactive Caregiving™, seniors can stay active and healthy.

According to a 2005 study by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, seniors who stay physically active in occupational activities, leisure and home activities –like gardening or housework– have a higher self-esteem and a higher quality-of-life.

Research indicates that when a senior is kept engaged physically, emotionally, mentally and socially, they stay healthier and retain better cognitive function, which results in their ability to live independently longer. This is the goal of Interactive Caregiving™.

Caregivers work to create lasting and personal relationships with both the senior client and their family through compassionate home care. Families can have peace of mind, knowing that their senior loved-ones are in good hands: those of Comfort Keepers caregivers.
