Care Designed Especially for Each Client

The Comfort Keepers experience starts with a free in-home consultation. In this meeting with the prospective client and family members we listen carefully to learn their needs and become familiar with the client’s personality, preferences and interests. We then develop a plan of senior care uniquely appropriate to each client. This information also helps us match the client with the most compatible caregiver. A good match results in a strong relationship and the best outcome and quality of life for the client.

Family members and loved ones can choose to be involved in their loved one’s in-home care as much as they’d like. Comfort Keepers works as a partner with family caregivers. We inform families about their loved ones’ care as much as they want. This includes updates on changes our caregivers observe in their loved ones and our recommendations for changes in care to help them continue living safely and healthfully at home.

We regularly review home care plans for each client to make certain they effectively support independent living at home. We also closely supervise our caregivers and schedule monthly supervisory visits to client’s homes, gathering feedback from clients and caregivers. In this way, we give family members the assurance that their loved one is receiving the best of care.

Alzheimer’s/Dementia Care

Through our Memory Care program, Comfort Keepers provides specialized in-home care for clients with Dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. This type of senior care is provided by Certified Nursing Assistants and Certified Home Health Aides who have completed additional training in Dementia and Alzheimer’s. This training equips our caregivers with an in-depth understanding of how to communicate with, respond to, and care for persons with these conditions.

To further the effectiveness of Memory Care, we match clients with caregivers who are best suited to provide for their specific needs. We can schedule Memory Care for as little as an hour or two a week to full-time. Overnight care is available to provide family members the rest they need for their own well-being and so they have the needed energy to care for their loved one.

In-Home Technology Solutions

The following technology solutions supplement and enhance the in-home care provided to Comfort Keepers clients:

Comfort Keepers’ SafetyChoice™ Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) keeps help within reach 24 hours a day and helps families rest easy knowing their loved one is safe living at home independently. With the PERS system, a senior wears an emergency call button on a pendant or bracelet, and with a push of the button can instantly call for help in the event of a fall or other emergency. Specially trained personnel monitor the system 24 hours a day at the SafetyChoice monitoring center—and the calls can go out to 911 and family members. PERS keeps seniors safe and gives their loved ones peace of mind.

The Comfort Keepers computerized tracking system helps make certain clients are getting the best in-home care possible. The system generates e-mails to family members providing them a schedule of which caregiver will be caring for their loved one on a given day. And when a caregiver is more than five minutes late for an appointment, the system alerts the Comfort Keepers office so managers can follow through on behalf of the client.

The MD.2 medication management system promotes the health of Comfort Keepers clients, helping them take their prescriptions on schedule—for their full benefit. Set like an alarm clock, the MD.2 sounds to remind seniors and other Comfort Keepers clients that it’s time to take their medicine. A family caregiver can set the MD.2 to alarm at the appropriate times and load the machine with each dose. When an alarms sounds, the client presses a button and the MD.2 dispenses a container of medication to be taken at that time. In the event no one responds to an alarm, the MD.2 automatically alerts a family caregiver or other designated person who follows through and makes sure the medicine is taken.
