Why Comfort Keepers®?
Client Satisfaction
Brent Eggeman and Missy Golden started with a simple idea: to open a business that would make a positive difference in the lives of others. Now, over 10 years later, they admit they had no idea what an impact opening a Comfort Keepers franchise would have on Denver, Colorado and its neighboring communities.
With hundreds of people helped already, Brent and Missy are still working hard to meet the growing needs of Colorado's senior population. By providing the type of in-home care that satisfies the needs of each client on an individual basis, their office prides itself on the kind of personal and professional service that has become synonymous with the Comfort Keepers brand.
It all starts with Brent and Missy and their hands-on approach to the day-to-day operations of their Comfort Keepers office. It is vital to ensuring that each client is getting everything he or she needs. Their incredible caregivers, or “Comfort Keepers®,” are the people who have the most direct influence, being in the home and performing tasks ranging from housekeeping and companionship care to personal care and care for Alzheimer’s clients.
But of all the people involved in Comfort Keepers, the most important person in this whole process is undoubtedly the client. When someone wants to know if Comfort Keepers is right for them, a Client Care Coordinator will provide a free initial assessment of his or her needs. The Client Care Coordinator will ask and answer questions to determine what the client would expect, as well as make recommendations on care services, and also take the time to learn which of the many trained Comfort Keepers would be the best fit for his or her individual personality and situation. Depending on what the client requests, Comfort Keepers can include family and friends in the discussions and planning process as much or as little as the client desires, and keep all parties involved and aware of any changes that may develop as the client’s needs change over time.
Comfort Keepers’ ultimate goal is to provide seniors with the means to live full, independent, and dignified lives within the comfort of their own homes. That’s why the Comfort Keepers team works so hard to treat each client with the respect and dignity they deserve. It’s why they tailor a senior care program to fit an individual’s needs. And it is why you can be assured that with Comfort Keepers, you or your loved one will enjoy a comforting experience that not only meets your needs, but also goes above and beyond your expectations.
Compassionate Comfort Keepers®
One of the main differences between Comfort Keepers and other in-home care agencies is the people who serve as specially-trained caregivers, or “Comfort Keepers.”
To become a Comfort Keeper, applicants must undergo a stringent screening process. After an initial phone interview and completing a six-page application, there is an in-depth personal interview and an industry-specific assessment tool, followed by a comprehensive series of background checks, including credit, criminal, and reference checks, so that you and your loved one can have absolute trust in the person who is providing the care. Although many applicants do not meet the unusually high standards, those who do join the Comfort Keepers team go through extensive preparation. Training consists of company policy and procedure as well as professional presentation, communication, understanding dementia, ADL (Activities of Daily Living – feeding, dressing, toileting, diapering, bathing and assistance with transfers) and dietary requirements for seniors. Depending on the individual, the training also focuses on aspects of care that many in-home agencies do not address, such as hospice care, and Alzheimer’s and dementia care.
But what truly makes our Comfort Keepers special is their depth of warmth and compassion. In addition to the practical competence that is necessary to do the job, each employee must pass a “lovability test.” Before an individual is allowed to come into your home, the simple question is asked: “Is this somebody I would want in my own mother’s home?” Only when a gentle and kind spirit is sensed, when the answer is an unequivocal “yes,” do they become an official Comfort Keeper.
If you or a loved one is in need of the type of senior care Comfort Keepers provides, you will experience first-hand the warmth and compassion of a Comfort Keeper in your home. Many clients speak of their caregivers not just as workers or employees, but as companions, even friends, like having an additional family member in the home. It is this combination of practical competence with a tender, loving heart for seniors that makes Comfort Keepers’ caregivers truly unique—it’s why we call ourselves “Comfort Keepers.”
Specific Services
If you or a loved one lives in Denver, Colorado and are in need of in-home care, Comfort Keepers is the solution. The following are just a few of the many unique services provided:
- Companionship Care: Whether it is meal preparation, friendly conversation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, incidental transportation or family relief, companionship care provides a wide range of in-home services that enable seniors to live happier, safer, and more fulfilling lives.
- Personal Care: For those who need a higher level of hands-on assistance, personal care includes a compassionate, sensitive approach to life’s daily concerns, such as feeding, toileting, mobility, and bathing.
- Emergency Response System: To provide seniors and their loved ones with the peace of mind that comes from emergency monitoring, Brent and Missy's office is one of the larger distributors and managers of emergency response systems in the area, using only the latest technology available on the market so that you or a loved one can call for help instantly from anywhere in your home.
- Medication Management System: Taking the right medications at the right time is critical to reducing hospitalization. A member of the Comfort Keepers team can consult and install everything from reminder programs to actual medication dispensers. Medication management systems help seniors continue their medication regimen regularly and properly.
- Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care: Unlike many other senior care agencies, Comfort Keepers requires each of their caregivers to undergo Alzheimer’s and Dementia training, so that they can provide better care to those suffering with Alzheimer’s disease, memory loss, and other difficult cognitive deficiencies.
- Cardio-Pulmonary Recovery: The road to recuperation after a stroke or heart attack can be a difficult one, but with Comfort Keepers’ Cardio- Pulmonary recovery program, you or a loved one will receive the care that is necessary for the best possible recovery, including transfers, social support, encouragement, and dietary needs.
- Hospice Support Care: Comfort Keepers provides hospice care and support for those struggling with end-of-life issues, including transportation, grocery shopping, and handling many of the day-to-day details that can seem overwhelming in such difficult circumstances.
- Emphysema Care: When it comes to the difficult everyday issues of dealing with such a disease as emphysema, Comfort Keepers’ caregivers will work with you or your loved one to create a positive and life-affirming program to reach for the best possible quality of life and personal health.
