About Comfort Keepers® Fairfax, Springfield and Alexandria

We launched Comfort Keepers in the Northern Virginia area 2001 with a vision to help seniors remain safe and independent in their own homes. Through personal experiences that touched our lives, we realized that best place for someone live is at home. Our mission is to advocate for seniors and their families as it relates to their healthcare needs. Through education and hands on assistance, we have had the privilege of helping hundreds of families.
ABOUT THE OWNERS
When Laura was in college, she moved to Florida to take of her Grandmother, who had recently fallen and was in the early stages of dementia. That grandmother unfortunately passed away in a nursing home and Laura decided to stay in Florida to be near her other grandmother, who was healthy at the time.
A few years later, Laura moved to Northern Virginia while keeping tabs on her Grandmother. She would always say, "do not worry about me, I am fine. I have a great support system in place. " After a few years, Mike and Laura went to visit her in Florida. When they arrived it was obvious that her grandmother needed help. She had lost a lot of weight, had signs of Dementia, and her neighbors told them that they were concerned.
Now Laura and her mother began Long Distance Caregiving. They were able to hire Comfort Keepers and get her the short term help she needed before moving her to her daughter's home Virginia. Laura loved having Grandma come to work ; she would organize the supply closet , put stamps on envelopes and fall asleep in the training room: examples of Interactive Caregiving which is at the heart of what we do. Sadly, Grandma passed away at the age of 93.
