Why we are doing Senior Care in Rockford, Illinois
Hello. We are Jim and Anne Wilson. We moved to the Rockford area in 1997, along with my mother, Ruth. When Anne decided to go back to work, we looked for someone to provide in-home care for Ruth. Though there were a number of providers, we didn't feel comfortable. Some were just placement services, or they weren't thorough in their employee background checks, or the employees didn't speak English, etc. So we decided to open our own business and chose to join Comfort Keepers. We opened our first office in 2001 serving Boone and Winnebago counties. We are committed to providing compassionate and respectful non-medical home care to seniors and others needing assistance. Our goal is to assist people to stay comfortably and safely in their own homes for as long as possible.
We promised to be available 24 hours, 7 days a week.
That means that if a client is being discharged "now" and will need home care in a matter of hours, Comfort Keepers will be there. It means that if at the last minute, night, weekends, a client or their family needs help, Comfort Keepers will be there. We also vowed to do the most thorough of background checks of our employees to provide peace of mind to our clients. We want them to know that whoever is caring for them or their loved one is reliable, caring and honest. Before bonding our caregivers we check their previous work history, as well as credit, motor vehicle and nation-wide criminal background check with a zero-tolerance for criminal convictions.
Since opening, our client base has evolved to need more care and we have expanded both our services and our service area to meet those needs. Because of this, we added personal care to our homemaking/companion care services. What started as one office in 2001 in our home has now grown to three offices covering an area serving DeKalb, Boone, Winnebago, Ogle, Stephenson and Lee counties. We moved our Rockford office to Manhattan Drive and later added a satellite office in Freeport. We then added another satellite office in Sycamore. We have over 70 employees. In spite of this growth, we still take the time to treat each client and Comfort Keeper as the special person they are.
We are always available to our clients to answer questions or chat. Stop in and see us. When we opened our first Comfort Keepers office we knew it was something that we could feel good about. We didn't know that it would become our personal ministry. Ruth's goal, like that of so many of our clients, was to be able to remain in her home for the rest of her life. That is our goal too, not only for her but for all of our clients. What joy we all feel when a client is told they will be able to go home from the hospital or nursing home because of our in home services. That is our gift to them. And when we see the smile on their face, which is their gift to us.
The special people who deliver our unique brand of in-home care, who we call Comfort Keepers, are carefully selected, screened and trained to provide professional, compassionate care.
