Comfort Keepers Owner Receives Top Women in Business Award

A Charlotte area entrepreneur was recently awarded the "Top Women In Business" Award by Business Today. Lori Eberly, owner of three area Comfort Keepers® locations, received this prestigious award at a Champagne Reception at the Peninsula Club in Cornelius on Oct 6, 2010.  Comfort Keepers, a growing international franchise offering in-home care services for aging adults and others needing assistance, allows seniors to live in their own homes independently.  Eberly has owned and operated the local Comfort Keepers office since 2001.

This annual award was given to Eberly in recognition of years in business, number of employees, and for her essay related to a difficult business decision that was made during the year that others may not have chosen to make. Eberly's essay centered around making difficult business decisions that enabled her business to succeed despite constant budget cuts from the state level that effect the reimbursement received for services provided to low-income seniors. Eberly stated that she was "determined to do whatever was necessary to continue providing the same quality service to low income seniors as we do for the area's wealthiest seniors."

"Comfort Keepers is very fortunate to have Lori Eberly as an owner within our franchise system," said Jim Booth, CEO of CK Franchising.  "Her hard work, tenacity, and commitment to her clients truly deserve to be recognized and applauded.  Lori is a true inspiration for dedication and care to all Comfort Keepers employees and caregivers."

Eberly started Comfort Keepers in 2001 after working for two years in Sales and Marketing for an Assisted Living company. "I loved working with seniors and their families, but felt that many of the residents that moved to our assisted living community at that time would have been able to remain at home if they had a service that assisted them with their daily needs," said Eberly. Over the years Eberly has expanded her Comfort Keepers to three locations and has obtained licensure to provide personal care, skilled nursing, and geriatric care management. "I am committed to providing whatever services we can that will enable seniors to remain in their homes for as long as safely and affordably possible. However, as a certified Geriatric Care Manager I also recognize that in-home care is not the solution for everyone and I am glad to be able to assist clients and their families in arranging other care options." Eberly has a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Health Administration.

"I am truly honored to receive this award," Eberly said.  "I take pride in being able to offer Comfort Keepers services in the community.  I can't imagine a career that would be any more rewarding."
