In-Home Care in Wichita, Kansas & Surrounding Areas
Comfort Keepers® of Wichita helps seniors maintain as a high a level of independence as possible in the comfort of their own homes, where they most desire to be. You’ll find that Comfort Keepers care stands above the services of other in-home care providers for two primary reasons: the quality and compassion of our caregivers and our unique style of caregiving, which encourages seniors to stay as active as they are able.
Because of these differences, Comfort Keepers enhances seniors’ physical, mental and emotional health. Comfort Keepers allows seniors to maintain an optimal level of control and independence. This goes a long way to enhancing their quality and enjoyment of life.
Comfort Keepers also improves the lives of our clients’ families. We partner with families, giving them support, confidence and peace of mind that their loved one is receiving the assistance he or she needs to continue living safely, healthfully and happily at home—even with special care needs such as dementia. In addition to personal and companionship care services, we offer technology solutions to further assure the safety and well-being of seniors at home.

The Comfort Keepers Difference
Comfort Keepers has proven itself as a leading provider of effective, health-enhancing in-home elder care. Here are a few significant reasons:
- Our genuinely caring caregivers. For our caregivers—we call them Comfort Keepers—caregiving comes from the heart. They have a genuine gift for serving seniors and other adults in need of in-home care.
Not just anyone has what it takes, so we’ve established a proven, rigorous system for recruiting and hiring the right people. We hire only individuals who display a true concern for helping seniors live independently at home.
And for the safety and peace of mind of our clients and their families, all Comfort Keepers candidates must pass state and national background checks. This includes a Social Security trace, in-person county criminal background checks, a search through national criminal databases, including sex offender, abuse and violent offender registries, and a search of driving records. We also conduct annual re-certifications to check for offenses that occur after hire.
Comfort Keepers, once hired, complete our extensive training program, no matter their level of experience. Our training prepares them for Comfort Keepers’ special brand of caregiving, Interactive Caregiving™. Our practical, hands-on training covers home safety, fall prevention, Alzheimer’s and dementia care, safe transfers from beds, chairs and wheelchairs, homemaking, personal care, senior nutrition, diseases associated with aging, hearing loss, medication management and infection control. Comfort Keepers also complete continuing training to maintain and enhance their skills.
Comfort Keepers is able to exercise greater control over the quality of our caregivers because they are our employees – not contractors. And because of this, Comfort Keepers – and not our clients – is responsible for bonding and liability insurance, workers compensation insurance and payroll taxes. We also take care of all scheduling, supervision and training of our caregivers. - Interactive Caregiving®. Comfort Keepers’ distinctive brand of caregiving, Interactive Caregiving®, encourages seniors to maintain as active a lifestyle as possible to promote their level of independence and sense of control over their lives. Numerous studies have shown that seniors enjoy better physical, mental and emotional health when they are kept mentally and emotionally engaged in everyday life.
Through Interactive Caregiving®, Comfort Keepers involve seniors in their own caregiving and involve them in regular physical, mental and social activity, designed around their personal interests and abilities. These may include walking, puzzle solving, conversation and reminiscing, favorite hobbies, working in the kitchen, visiting friends and going to favorite places, such as church, shopping, a concert or play, or a social club or senior center.
Loss of independence is one of the greatest fears of seniors, and Interactive Caregiving® is designed especially to strengthen and extend independence. - Matching clients and caregivers. Another key to the success of Comfort Keepers elder care is our attention to pairing clients with caregivers, based on their compatibility, that is, personalities, common interests, care needs and special training.
- Our six-step quality check. We have created a six-step team approach to assure that our clients receive the quality care they deserve:
1. Initial phone contact with the client or family
2. In-home visit by our Director/Client Care Coordinator
3. A meet and greet, in which the Client Care Coordinator introduces the client to his or her new caregiver
4. Call to the client following the caregiver’s first visit
5. Friendly visit within the first month by the Client Care Coordinator
6. Quarterly re-assessments and supervisory visits to assure the client’s needs are being met
We further track our clients’ care using the Teletrack system, which monitors when caregivers arrive in their client’s home and when they leave.
We Support Families
We know that seeing to the well-being of an elderly loved one is an important—and often challenging— responsibility. That’s why we are committed to being there every step of the way to support our clients’ families.
We leave it up to each family to be as involved in their loved one’s care as they desire or are able to be. We know that geographic distance can limit a family’s involvement in their loved one’s care. In such cases, we stay in contact with families to keep them informed about their loved one’s care and status.
For families actively involved in their loved one’s day-to-day care, Comfort Keepers offers respite care to give them a break from caregiving. Comfort Keepers are scheduled as needed to allow family caregivers to get away, whether for just an hour or two to relax or take care of other responsibilities or for a longer period of time while the family caregiver goes to work, or even goes on vacation.
Comfort Keepers Services
We offer a wide range of in-home senior care services that can be tailored into a plan of care that meets each client and family’s need for assistance. Our services include:
- Companionship Care, which is centered on the comforting company and conversation of a caregiver, who assists with a variety of household tasks, such as meal preparation and light housekeeping, transportation to appointments, running errands, providing medication reminders and assisting with grooming and dressing.
- Personal Care, which involves assistance with personal hygiene, skin care, toileting and incontinence care, safe transfers in and out of bed and chairs and assistance with mobility in the home and community.
- SafetyChoice® by Comfort Keepers offers a variety of in-home safety technology solutions. They promote the safety of seniors between caregivers’ visits. Among them is a call alert system that allows seniors to call for help with the push of a button in the event of an emergency. There also are a fall mat that signals for help when a senior falls and a medication management system that reminds seniors to take their medication. These technology solutions are monitored 24 hours a day at the SafetyChoice® monitoring center.
- Hospice Support is provided by Comfort Keepers in partnership with hospice nursing agencies. Comfort Keepers provide personal and companionship care services that help advance the comfort and quality of life of hospice patients.
- Post-Hospital Care and Support allows clients to recover in the comfort of home following a hospital stay for surgery or treatment of an illness or injury.
- Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care services are provided by specially trained Comfort Keepers who know how to make home a safe and nurturing place for persons diagnosed with dementia. In addition to caring for clients, they educate families on how to better meet their loved one’s needs and how to calm them when they become agitated. SafetyChoice technology solutions, mentioned above, can be used to complement personal caregiving to further promote the in-home safety of clients with dementia.
Our Partners in Care
To provide clients and their families a complete senior care solution that continually meets their changing needs, Comfort Keepers develops and maintains partnerships with other health and senior care services.
