Meet Our Comfort Keepers®

At Comfort Keepers we orient every caregiver to this vision:

“We are an extension of the families we are privileged to serve.  We will make a positive difference in the lives of our clients and families.  We are committed to being the best senior care provider we can possibly be.”

It all starts with hiring genuinely nice caregivers who are passionate about their work. From the beginning of our business through today, we consistently reject over 80% of the caregiver applicants who contact us.  Here is an outline of how we screen out “wrong” hires:

  1. We require interviews; one does not walk into our office and fill out paperwork on her time.
  2. We only interview applicants who have chosen caregiving as a profession and who have appropriate experience and a stable work history.
  3. We aggressively seek, and usually get, critical information from previous employers.
  4. Criminal background check in multiple counties.  We check all counties where the applicant has lived for the past seven years.  A responsible employer must not take risks in our industry, as our clients’ well-being is at stake!
  5. Car and proof of car insurance.  To work for Comfort Keepers, one must have her own car and insurance.
  6. Motor vehicle records check.  Only good driving records are allowed.
  7. Each applicant is screened against the state Abuse Registry and Sexual Offender Registry; a listing on either registry precludes employment consideration.
  8. Drug test.  All new caregivers are tested; moreover, we conduct random and discretionary drug tests.
  9. TB skin test.  All caregivers have an annual tuberculosis skin test.
  10. Personal references are used to augment professional information.
  11. The trust test.  Do we trust an applicant enough to use her in our own home or in our parents’ home?  If the answer is no, we will not hire, period.

Hiring the right caregivers—and never settling for “sitters”—is the most important element in our service delivery, but it is only a part.  Orientation, training, client matching, monitoring service quality, performance reviews, retention, and problem resolution comprise other key factors in maintaining what we wholeheartedly believe is by far the best caregiver team in the industry!
