What is Special about Comfort Keepers®?
The real difference is in the quality caregivers we hire and our special style of caregiving. More than a typical caregiver, Comfort Keepers® have a genuine concern for their clients’ well-being.
We have developed a thorough system to screen and select caregivers who have a genuinely caring heart, a gift for relating to and serving senior citizens, and other qualities necessary to measure up to Comfort Keepers’ high standards of client care. We hire only the best senior caregivers and nurses—the kind we would want caring for our own parents.
We start the process with a phone interview to narrow the pool of candidates before we proceed with face-to-face interviews. We also administer a variety of background checks and reference checks.
The people we hire, our Comfort Keepers, complete our extensive orientation program and specialized training to prepare them to help their clients attain and maintain the greatest quality of life possible. Comfort Keepers provides customized training in all essential skills area, including personal care, grooming and bathing, Alzheimer’s and dementia care, hospice assistance, and aging issues.
Further, we provide our Comfort Keepers and nurses continuing education to maintain and enhance their caregiving skills throughout their career with us.
Comfort Keepers are professional and well trained. What truly sets them above other in-home caregivers, however, is their natural gift for caring for others. They have a heart for caregiving—and Comfort Keepers' thorough screening and interviewing process to identifies them from those less devoted.
Our Comfort Keepers are bonded, insured and covered by Workers' Compensation insurance to protect our clients and their families—and because they are Comfort Keepers employees, we take care of their payroll taxes.
To achieve the most favorable outcome for each Comfort Keepers client, we carefully match Comfort Keepers and clients whose personalities and interests—as well as skills and needs—mesh well. This forms the basis of strong, healthful relationships.
Comfort Keepers work as trusted partners with family caregivers to provide their loved ones a complete in-home care solution to promote independent living. We bring assisted living into your own home!
Interactive Caregiving™
This is Comfort Keepers’ special brand of caregiving. Through Interactive Caregiving™, our Comfort Keepers combine day-to-day caregiving services with a stimulating mix of activities that enrich their clients’ lives physically, mentally, socially and emotionally. Based on the clients’ interests and abilities, these activities may include favorite hobbies, puzzles, walks, reminiscing, trips to church and other favorite places, visits with friends, shopping trips and cooking.
Our Caregivers, Nurses Make a Great Team
Unlike many in-home care providers, Comfort Keepers of Columbus and Central Ohio also provides home health care services delivered by licensed practical nurses and registered nurses.
Our nurses and in-home caregivers form an excellent team to enhance the health and well-being of our clients:
- Our home health care nurses care for clients at home after they have been discharged from the hospital
- When the allotted time for home health care services runs out, seniors often still need assistance at home – and that is where our in-home caregivers come in
- As they provide for the personal care and companionship needs of clients, our Comfort Keepers are in a good position to observe changes in clients that could indicate a health problem. To prevent a potential health crisis, our home health care nurses can be called in quickly.
- Comfort Keepers also prevent health crises by making sure clients eat well and take medication on time—two factors that when not watched carefully may lead to critical declines in seniors’ health.
