Interactive Caregiving™
Interactive Caregiving™—our distinctive approach to in-home care—is at the very heart of Comfort Keepers®.
Our dedicated caregivers, the special people we call Comfort Keepers®, transform day-to-day caregiving into opportunities for meaningful conversation and activities that engage and enrich the lives of seniors physically, mentally, socially and emotionally. This interactive caregiving can take place in a client's own home, an assisted living, an independant living, or any other medical facility. Interactive caregiving honors a senior's right to Aging in Place.
This practice of Interactive Caregiving can contribute to longer, healthier, more purposeful lives for seniors—a fact proven by many research studies that point to the health benefits of active living in later life. Keeping seniors mental, phycially, and social engaged enhances their quality of life. All of our Comfort Keepers are specially trained in the the art of Interactive Caregiving. Rather than coming into a home and "doing for" a client, they are trained how to perfom tasks "with" their client. Most seniors want to maintain control of their own home. A Comfort Keeper knows that maintaining this control helps to prolong an individual's feelings of independance.
For maximum effectiveness, Comfort Keepers tailors Interactive Caregiving to the personality and unique interests and abilities of each senior client. This is acheived through a thorough in home assessment. Our Social Workers will meet with your family to determine exactly what care your loved one needs. Specific questions during this assessment will enable us to understand the present situation and enable our Columbus, Ohio Comfort Keepers staff to train and choose the best possible caregiver for your family's situation.
Interactive Caregiving may, for example, include walks in the neighborhood or dancing to music; working together on household chores; discussing current events or personal interests; reminiscing while viewing photo albums; working on hobbies, puzzles or crafts; and going shopping or to church, senior center or civic group activities. Our Comfort Keepers are trained to encourage your loved one to continue with the hobbies and interests that they enjoyed in years past. They will encourage the use of favorite family recipes when cooking, and do houshold tasks according to the family's traditions. Maintaining traditions, respecting preferences, and encouraging indenpendance are the goals that we strive for.
When your elderly loved one needs assistance call Comfort Keepers, and be assured that we will respect their home, their independence, and their dignity through Interactive Caregiving.
