In-Home Care in Columbus, Ohio

More and more seniors today want to continue living as independently as possible in the comfort of their own homes. But seniors do not all need the same degree of assistance to make this goal possible. That is why at Comfort Keepers we offer a broad range of in-home services that can be customized to meet the specific needs of each individual and family.

We offer a free in-home assessment to help determine the services you, or a loved one, may need. Based on the assessment we will develop a customized plan of adult or senior care.

Some seniors need help for a couple of hours in the morning to begin their day. Some require round-the-clock, 24-hour elder care. Others need someone to look in on them while family caregivers are at work. Yet others need the assurance of having someone stay with them through the night.

In addition to caring for clients in their homes, Comfort Keepers of Columbus serves seniors who live in independent living facilities. They also can provide clients companionship and care while they are in the hospital or a nursing facility and do not want to be left alone.

Our compassionate caregivers, or Comfort Keepers, also assist elderly who live with their children, caring for them while their children work or tend to other responsibilities. “Comfort Keepers is a cost-effective way to age in the place seniors choose,” explains Tim McConnell, owner of Comfort Keepers of Columbus.

Quick Response

Comfort Keepers responds quickly to calls for at-home assistance. Our phone is answered live, 24/7, and we typically can have someone at your home within a few hours of your call.

We regularly review each client’s plan of care to make certain we are being effective in helping the senior and to make timely adjustments for a client’s changing circumstances. Our Quality Assurance department is dedicated to ensuring that all clients and their families are completely confident and satisfied with our in-home care.  Our desire is to exceed all expectations.

Family Involvement

Comfort Keepers partners with families, giving them the option to be involved as much in their loved one’s in-home care as they wish—or are able.  No matter how involved families are in their loved one’s day-to-day care, we keep them fully informed about the care we provide and how their loved one is doing.

The Right Match

Another key to Comfort Keepers’ success is our system of matching clients and Comfort Keepers. Our Quality Assurance Department continually supervises each and every Comfort Keeper to ensure that every client is matched with the most appropriate adult or senior caregiver. In addition a sophisticated computer program helps us pair clients and caregivers based on personality, care needs, training and common interests. We know from experience that good client-caregiver matches lead to relationships that enhance health, happiness and well-being, and we recognize that we must earn your trust.

Computerized Tracking of Every Caregiver

Comfort Keepers utilizes a computerized tracking system called Teletrack.  Each Comfort Keeper calls an 800 number from the client’s home phone at the beginning and end of every shift.  Our support office team continually monitors when each and every caregiver arrives and departs.

In addition, the office receives an audible alert if a Comfort Keeper is 7 minutes late arriving at their assignment.  We understand that reliability and trust are critical in the field of home health.  At Comfort Keepers we can be 100% certain that all of our caregivers are on time and are working when assigned.  This is especially important when a family member has dementia and is unable to keep track of their own care.  Families can rest assured knowing that Comfort Keepers knows where every employee is during each shift.

A Complete Senior Care Solution

Comfort Keepers is the complete in-home care solution for seniors and their families, thanks to our comprehensive menu of services and the partnerships we have developed with a network of local health and senior care organizations that provide services that are not among our specialties. Included in this network are rehabilitation programs, adult day care, assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals and hospice.

Our Home Care Services

Our Comfort Keepers deliver the following types of services that we can tailor to meet each senior’s and family’s needs:

  • Companionship Care, including conversation, meal preparation and light housekeeping, medication reminders, and transportation and errands.
  • Personal Care, such as hands-on assistance with bathing or showering, hair and skin care, shaving, feeding, toileting and incontinence care, and help with mobility.
  • Private Duty Nursing, a service that sets apart Comfort Keepers of Columbus from many in-home care providers. Our registered nurses and licensed practical nurses help clients manage chronic and acute medical conditions, complementing the personal care and companionship services provided by caregivers. Private duty nursing services include administration of medications, wound care, dressing changes and general health assessments.
  • Comfort Keepers’ SafetyChoice™ Technology Solutions.  These devices are monitored by professionals at SafetyChoice’s monitoring center. They help keep seniors safe between caregivers’ visits in the home. These devices include a Personal Emergency Response System, which allows seniors to call for help 24 hours a day with the touch of a button; a fall detector, which clips to a client’s clothing and alerts help when a senior falls; and a Medication Management System, which reminds clients to take their medications, dispenses the drugs as prescribed and alerts caregivers when a dose is missed.
  • Post-Hospital Care and Support to help seniors and other adults when they return home from the hospital following surgery, injury or illness.
  • Stroke Recovery for seniors and other adults who need help with the activities of daily living as they regain strength and function.
  • Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care provided by Comfort Keepers who are specially trained in promoting the quality of life of persons diagnosed with dementia.
  • Specialized care for clients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig’s disease, a progressive neurological condition that limits voluntary muscle movement.
  • Hospice Sitters, who play a supportive role in partnership with nurses from hospice care providers.
