Senior Care in St. Petersburg, Florida

Comfort Keepers® of St. Petersburg, Florida, offers an exceptionally effective brand of in-home care that helps seniors and other adults maintain a high quality of independent living. Our compassionate, highly qualified caregivers partner with families to help their loved ones live happily, safely and as independently as possible, for as long as possible, where they most want to be: in the comfort of their own homes.

Caregiving Is Their Calling

What makes our caregivers—our Comfort Keepers—stand apart from other in-home providers is that caregiving is their calling. For them, it is not a job; they possess a natural gift and desire to serve seniors and help them enjoy life to the fullest.

To find caregivers of this caliber, we have developed an extensive screening and interviewing process, which includes national background checks and personal and professional references. When we interview candidates we look for the kind of people we would choose to care for our own family members.

Once hired, Comfort Keepers complete an orientation to become proficient in Comfort Keepers’ distinctive brand of in-home care, Interactive Caregiving®. We also provide them extensive training, including how to meet the special needs of people with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. To maintain and strengthen their skills, Comfort Keepers also complete in-service trainings twice a year, and they complete specialized training in elder abuse, hospice and Alzheimer’s awareness.

We enhance the effectiveness of our caregiving services by taking great care in matching our clients and caregivers for compatibility.. In addition, we match clients and caregivers according to shared interests, caregivers’ special skills and clients’ needs. We have learned from experience that good matches create close caregiver-client relationships that lead to excellent in-home care results.

Two weeks after a Comfort Keeper begins caring for a new client, our Client Advocate meets with the client to make certain his or her needs are being met or whether changes in the care plan are needed.  This review is included at no additional charge. We continually review each client’s care to make sure it is meeting the client’s and family’s needs.

Interactive Caregiving®

Interactive Caregiving® is a type of caregiving unique to Comfort Keepers. It actively involves seniors in their own care, as Comfort Keepers encourage their clients to do as much for themselves as they are able. This approach helps advance their confidence, level of independence and quality of life.

Comfort Keepers also actively involve their clients in physical, mental and social activities, based on their interests and abilities, to promote their overall well-being and heighten their quality and enjoyment of life. Examples of such activities include walking or dancing, playing games and working on puzzles or hobbies, conversing and reminiscing, visiting friends, going shopping, and going to favorite places, such as church  or a senior center.

A Caring Partnership

Families look to Comfort Keepers as a trusted, experienced partner, helping their loved ones maintain a high standard of independent living in the comfort of home. Comfort Keepers allows families to decide how involved they want to be in their loved one’s in-home care. Whatever degree a family’s involvement, Comfort Keepers maintains good communication to keep them informed of their loved one’s care.

Family members who are active in caregiving benefit from our respite care service. Respite care provides family caregivers temporary breaks, as needed. A Comfort Keeper comes into the home to care for a senior family member, allowing the family caregiver to get away for needed rest, whether for just a few hours, for a vacation or to attend to other responsibilities.
