Bay Area Comfort Keepers Franchisee is Appointed to Council on Aging

May 10, 2010 – Jessica Thomas, co-owner of the local Comfort Keepers® in-home senior care office, has been elected to the Contra County Advisory Council on Aging.  The Area Council on Aging is responsible for planning, developing, and administering programs related to senior adults in accordance with the Older Americans Act.  As a business owner that is committed to providing quality care for seniors and other adults, Thomas is thrilled at the prospect of being involved in a council that provides so much value to the seniors in the community.

Thomas and her sister, Jennifer Berryman, opened the local Comfort Keepers office because of their personal experiences in caring for aging loved ones.   “Watching our grandmothers’ decline from illness, and knowing they wanted to age with dignity and in their own homes, was a life-altering experience.  We knew we wanted to provide a better care solution for seniors in our community and it is one of the primary reasons we became franchisees for Comfort Keepers,” Thomas said. “Now being a member of the Area Council on Aging Advisory Board is one more opportunity to have a positive impact on the community and ensure we are all providing the most relevant and needed services for the senior segment."

The forty members of the Contra County Advisory Council on Aging is focused on health, housing, legislative advocacy, senior mental health, transportation for seniors, and a host of other priorities that affect seniors’ quality of life.
