In-Home Care in Ravenna, Ohio

Comfort Keepers® of Ravenna, Ohio, provides seniors and other adults the assistance they need to maintain a high quality of independent living in the comfort of their own homes. Our caregivers provide an exceptional brand of supportive care that enriches their clients’ lives physically, mentally, socially and emotionally.

Our caregivers—Comfort Keepers—tailor caregiving to provide the exact amount of assistance each client needs to perform the activities of daily living and live safely and happily at home. At the same time, Comfort Keepers partner with their clients’ family members, helping them provide for their loved ones’ care, while giving them the assurance that their loved ones are in good hands when they cannot be present.

The Advantages of Comfort Keepers

Many providers offer in-home care for seniors. But none offer the quality of Comfort Keepers. Our care stands out in a few very important ways:

  • We have been approved as a provider by Ohio's PASSPORT program, which helps connect Medicaid-eligible seniors with home care services
  • Although we specialize in non-medical home care services, we employ a registered nurse who develops plans of care for our clients
  • We are never more than a phone call away. Whenever you call, you will speak with one of our staff members—not an answering service.

And two key differences that make a real impact for our clients are the quality of our caregivers and the distinctive style and effectiveness of the care they provide.

Our Caregivers are Truly Gifted

We hire only the best caregivers – people who have a calling for serving seniors. Our thorough screening process helps us identify candidates who have a genuine desire and gift for serving seniors and who look upon caregiving as a calling, not just a job.

We begin the screening process with a phone interview and call back the best for an in-person interview. We also conduct fingerprinting and background checks, and as a drug-free workplace, we conduct random drug tests of our caregivers.

Before they begin caring for clients, Comfort Keepers complete orientation and training, an extensive take-home test and a one-hour competency review with a registered nurse.

To help them maintain and build their skills, Comfort Keepers complete quarterly training and testing, under the direction of a registered nurse. Topics include Alzheimer’s care and safe lifting techniques. All of our training is led by two registered nurses and one licensed practical nurse.

Interactive Caregiving™

Our special brand of elder care—Interactive Caregiving™--is built on research that shows that seniors who stay actively engaged in life—physically, mentally and emotionally—enjoy healthier, happier, more independent lives. Our Comfort Keepers give seniors the opportunity to be as involved in their own care as they are able. In addition, Comfort Keepers involve their clients in a wide array of activities: physical exercise, such as walking; mental activity, such as hobbies, puzzles and games; and social activities, such as going to senior centers, church events and other favorite places, as well as visiting friends.

Interactive Caregiving has been proven to enhance seniors’ sense of purpose and control over their lives, preventing depression, promoting their independence and enhancing their health and well-being.

The Home Care Services of Comfort Keepers

Comfort Keepers tailors a comprehensive range of services to meet each client’s and family’s needs, providing from as little as a few hours of services a week to around-the-clock care. Our services include:

  • Companionship Care, such as conversation, preparing and eating meals with a client, light housekeeping, medication reminders, standby help with dressing and grooming, errands and transportation to doctor’s appointments and other places.
  • Personal Care, including assistance with personal hygiene to promote seniors’ dignity and quality of life. These services include bathing and showering, grooming, skin care, toileting, incontinence care, help with mobility, and feeding.
  • Respite Care, which provides family members relief from caregiving responsibilities so they can rest and take care of other responsibilities.
  • Post-Hospital Care and Support, in which Comfort Keepers help seniors and other clients recuperate at home after surgery or hospital care for an illness or injury.
  • Hospice Support, in which Comfort Keepers offer supportive care to clients who are receiving hospice nursing services at home.

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care is another area of specialty for Comfort Keepers of Ravenna. As seniors live longer, a growing number of people experience the symptoms of Alzheimer’s and dementia. They and their families need assistance at home to provide them as safe and engaging an environment as possible. Comfort Keepers complete special training, provided by our nurses, to prepare them to help their clients to live safely at home at various stages of Alzheimer’s and dementia. The training covers the warning signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia and methods for promoting the quality of life and safety of persons with these conditions.
