How Comfort Keepers Stands Out
Comfort Keepers has gained a reputation for exceptionally effective senior care for these significant reasons:
- Our caregivers care from the heart: To our caregivers—Comfort Keepers—senior care is far more than a job. It is their calling; it is what they were meant to do.
The passion they put in their service to seniors is obvious. They gain great personal reward when they enable their clients to live fulfilling lives.
To prepare them to deliver the exclusive Comfort Keepers brand of elder care, we provide our caregivers extensive training. But no training can infuse a passion for elder care that comes naturally to our caregivers.
So, we have developed an extensive recruitment, screening and hiring process to find the people who already possess this gift. In addition, we conduct a series of criminal and driving record background checks to assure peace of mind and safety for our clients and their families.
Comfort Keepers complete extensive training and pass a series of skills tests before they begin providing care. And throughout their service with us their training continues. Every other month they complete training in specialized areas such as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s care, vision and hearing loss, mobility issues and much more to broaden and strengthen their skill base. Our franchise is licensed as a Class A Home Health Agency by the state of Minnesota, so we hire home health aides to perform our personal cares who must complete additional training.
- Interactive Caregiving™: Comfort Keeper’s distinctive brand of elder care, Interactive Caregiving™, is supported by the findings of numerous studies that show that seniors who remain active physically, mentally and socially enjoy better health and greater independence. Through Interactive Caregiving™ Comfort Keepers encourage their senior clients to actively participate in their own care and take part in a wide range of activities, such as walking and other physical activity, puzzles, games, reminiscing, hobbies, socializing with friends, grocery shopping, attending church, cultural events and more.
- Client-caregiver matches: To further enhance the effectiveness of Comfort Keepers care, we take time to match new clients with caregivers based on their personalities, interests, care needs and training. Since we have a diverse group of Comfort Keepers, it’s easy to match clients with compatible caregivers. We make these matches with the help of a one-hour in-home consultation and personality profile, through which we learn a lot about new clients.
Supporting Families
Comfort Keepers allows clients’ families to decide how much they wish or are able to be involved in their loved ones’ care. Comfort Keepers encourages open communication and on-going dialogue with families to keep families updated on their loved ones’ progress and changing needs.
Families who are actively engaged in caregiving are thankful for Comfort Keepers’ respite care services in which a Comfort Keeper comes into the home as needed to allow family caregivers to take a restful break, go to work or take care of other responsibilities.
