Before being hired as Comfort Keepers, applicants are thoroughly screened. The process begins with a phone interview and nine page paper application, and then proceeds to an comprehensive personal interview and integrity assessment. The screening is completed with a series of meticulous background checks, including criminal, credit, DMV, and reference checks, and this is all done so that our clients can put their complete trust in their Comfort Keepers. Many do not meet our exceptionally high standards, but those who are asked to become part of the Comfort Keepers team prepare extensively. The training regimen includes instruction in company policy and procedure as well as communication, professional presentation, understanding dementia, senior diets, and ADL (Activities of Daily Living – dressing, feeding, toileting, diapering, bathing, and transfer assistance) and senior diets. For certain individuals, the training program also addresses some care issues that many home care agencies do not, including hospice care, body mechanics, and Alzheimer’s and dementia care.
