Personal Emergency Response System

Seniors with Alzheimer's or other dementia-related condition are occasionally prone to wandering. If a wandering senior is not found within a day of becoming lost, they have a 50% chance of sustaining a serious injury or even dying, according to the Alzheimer's Association. The PERS-GPS system is worn either as a pendant or a wristband. If a senior wanders and becomes lost, they simply press the button on the PERS system and the Comfort Keepers 24 hour central monitoring service will be immediately contacted through the PERS. The Comfort Keepers respondent can notify caregivers, family members, the home care office or dispatch an ambulance, all the while reassuring the senior with the PERS 2-way communication. Additionally, family members can check on the location of their elderly loved-one either by calling in to the Comfort Keepers central monitoring service or by logging-in online.

Medication Dispensing Technology

About 30% of hospital admissions of seniors over the age of 65 are directly related to failure to properly administer prescribed medication. Additionally, of seniors who are checked into a nursing home, approximately 40% say it is because they are unable to properly maintain their medication on their own. While home care providers can provide medication reminders to help seniors remember take their medication on time, when the senior is alone, they may often forget, which can result in illness or injury.

With Medication Management through SafetyChoice®, family members do not have to worry that their elderly loved-ones may not be taking their medication properly. Instead, the senior's medication is administered automatically, and the senior is notified with a spoken voice and a flashing light. If the senior still does not take their medication on time, a phone call will automatically alert the Comfort Keepers home care office, a caregiver or a family member.
