Families choose Comfort Keepers® for different reasons. For some, we provide round the clock care and support for an elderly relative. For others, we offer a few hours a week or a much needed break for a family caregiver. Comfort Keepers of Northern Michigan is owned by longtime area residents, Russ and Leslie Knopp. The Knopps opened Comfort Keepers to meet the needs of the growing senior population in Traverse City, Charlevoix, Petoskey, Gaylord and the surrounding areas of northwest Michigan. There are many advantages of using Comfort Keepers for in-home personal care and homemaking services including:
1. We Can Respond to Your Needs Now - We can usually place a highly qualified Comfort Keeper in your home within 24 hours of your request. We know that you can’t always anticipate when you’ll need assistance. We work hard to be there when you need us, and pledge never to miss a shift.
2. Comfort Keepers Assurance of Quality Caregivers – We have certified nurse assistants on staff as well as qualified companion/homemakers. All of our caregivers are insured and bonded. All applicants undergo a comprehensive screening process including reference checks, criminal, credit, driving and employment record checks. We do not employ anyone who does not have exemplary ratings in all five areas. Our hiring process revolves around seeking out potential caregivers that have a genuine interest in providing our service.
3. Comfort Keepers Pays Employment Taxes and Liability Insurance - Our caregivers are paid higher than industry average, unlike many competitors that pay less than minimum wage, don’t pay overtime, don’t offer any benefits, and don’t take out withholding. We cover your liability, employment and workers compensation insurances, and withholding taxes for our employees.
4. Comfort Keepers is Reliable and Provides Back-up – If your primary caregiver is ill, has an emergency or needs time off for vacation, we make sure a qualified substitute is available to meet your needs. You don’t need to worry about what to do if your caregiver doesn’t show up; we make sure someone is there.
5. Comfort Keepers is Affordable and Has No Hidden Costs - You choose the services you need, when you need them. There are no additional charges for weekends or evenings. You are covered by a contract with Comfort Keepers that does not bind you to a long-term commitment. Some of our services may be tax deductible, which is not the case with independent contractors.
