We are a close-knit group of hard-working, compassionate women and men from about age 30 to 80, devoted to being of service to our community, especially the older people in our community. We love to cook and clean, listen as well as talk, and observe and tend. Before I go any further, would you like to know what our clients think about us? Here's what they have said:
"I'm writing to thank you and Comfort Keepers for all of the thoughtful services you and your staff provide. As you know, yours is the fourth senior companion service my mother and I have worked with during this challenging period in her life. While the others weren't all disappointments for us, only yours has impressed us so much. I'm comfortable knowing that anyone you assign to my mother's needs will use both her head and her heart in fulfilling the assignment - just as a family member would do. It also makes me feel that I'm not the only person who wants to do what's best for Mom while making every effort to respect her pride and dignity. My mother says she feels like she won the lottery when you and your staff came into her life. I feel like I can finally relax, secure in the knowledge that we've finally found a partner we can trust and depend on." - Danielle W.
"We are so blessed to have Diane. She is more like family. She's great with my dad. We would truly be lost without her. I know people who have gone through caregivers and never found anyone to compare to Diane." - Reggie B.
"A million thanks for your caring attention to my dad these last months. He looked forward to Betty's and Jerry's visits - they were better than "medicine"!" - Susan O.
"A special thanks for your caring and dedicated service. It definitely made my Uncle's last months more pleasant and comfortable." - Bob and Donna W.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the help you have given to my mother. I can't tell you how much it means to know that she is being well taken care of by your staff. Being 1,500 miles away from Florida I find it very difficult. I now feel such a relief and peace of mind to know she is in such wonderful capable hands. Her caretaker April gives more than 100%. She is an exceptional warm, caring and compassionate person going way beyond her duties of a caretaker to my mother. You should be complimented on your commitment to helping people to remain in their homes. She now has her independence and thanks to your organization Comfort Keepers and of course April she has been given the highest quality care and friendship." - Sandra B.
"I have enjoyed the services of Comfort Keepers, and especially Joyce who has done such a great service in taking care of my house and my needs during my recovering from recent accident. I would like to cancel the services of Comfort Keepers at this time as I am now able to do for myself. You can be sure that I will recommend your company to anyone that I feel would benefit from this service. Should I find that I might need you again, I will certainly call you." - Hazel R.
"We cannot thank you enough! Above expectations! Linda is wonderful! Velma goes above and beyond the call of duty! She is absolutely the best!" - Joe L.
"My sister had the best wonderful caring service. Thank you. In every way it was the best." - Mary K. and Agnes
"I wish we had these services in Naples. It is difficult for older people to accept and bond to a caretaker. Susan is wonderful, caring, and an asset to your agency." - Hazel K and Mary Jo T.
"I want to express my thanks to Linda for spending time at the hospital with (my sister) and me. She came at a time when I was trying to cope with shocking news about (my sister) and my mind couldn't function sensibly. She helped me ask the right questions and found a way to ensure that (my sister) would safely make it through the night by bringing us Evelyn." - June P.
"Linda was great to me. Especially after mom's stroke. Linda gave me feedback from the caregivers. It gave me great comfort to know that someone was with mom every day. I did not meet all of (mom's) caregivers but the ones I met were caring and treated my mother with respect." - Megan C.
"I thank the Lord for each of you! May you be richly blest as you extend His love to others. I felt secure in knowing you were always with Paul. You gave us a feeling of security and love!" - Anitta H.
"Thank you for the service that your company provided to my mother. It definitely allowed her to remain in her own home longer.""We appreciate so much all the help Cynthia gave to our Mother. Cindy cheerfully did what we asked: light housekeeping, doctor appt transportation and meal preparation....But her thoughtfulness and good humor went far and above the usual. She is just exceptional. We would highly recommend Cindy to care for a loved one." - Jane D. and Beverly A. D.
As part of our commitment to meet the key needs and issues of the seniors in our community, our caregivers participate in senior sensitivity training, prevention of elder abuse, and caring for those with dementia. Jeanne Anderson, the owner of Comfort Keepers in Charlotte County, Florida, completed a course in gerontology under Dr. Linda Buettner, PhD, of Florida Gulf Coast University and Director of the Center for Positive Aging. In July 2004, she completed training as a Certified Senior Advisor. In earning the CSA certification, she received comprehensive education in the health, financial, and social issues facing seniors. High ethical and professional standards and continuing education are required to use the designation Certified Senior Advisor. The Society of Certified Senior Advisors is the world's largest membership organization educating and certifying professionals who serve seniors. (Certified Senior Advisors (CSA) have supplemented their individual professional licenses, credentials and education with knowledge about aging and working with seniors. Know what those licenses, credentials and education signify. The CSA designation alone does not imply expertise in financial, health or social matters. Details: www.csa.us.)
A personal note: I have been asked why I became a part of the Comfort Keepers organization. I think I must have been a Comfort Keeper all of my life. It is a philosophy with personal significance to me and I believe in it steadfastly. I am driven to help people fulfill their wish to live out their lives where they want to be and with their loved ones in their home. When I moved to Charlotte County I met other men and women who believed in Comfort Keepers as much as I did, so I rounded them up and began matching them up with the seniors in our community who wanted to stay in their homes but needed a little assistance to live there safely.
That's who we are and why we do what we do. As for what we do, there's so much more to being a Comfort Keeper than just cleaning, although that is an essential service for to someone with limited mobility or vision impairment. We are a second set of eyes and ears to ensure nutritional needs, hygiene, proper management of medication, and to fight against elderly fraud and elder abuse. Our services help alleviate the tremendous amount of stress that is placed on seniors and their friends and family when they are ill or experiencing difficulty with memory. And in everything we do, we are also friends and companions. We help maintain quality of life by helping our senior partners to stay active mentally, physically, and socially.
