Our Mission
At Comfort Keepers, we provide our clients with the highest quality of life achievable through personalized planning and interactive care-giving, with our caregivers striving to make a difference in our clients’ lives. We always treat our clients with the utmost respect and dignity as though we were providing care for members of our own family.
Our Vision
By continually retaining employees with integrity and compassion, Comfort Keepers will be the first choice premier provider of in-home care services. While increasing the standards of care for our clients by being constantly aware of their needs, we will continue to provide them with the best value and highest quality of service.
About Us
When Michael Jones, a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA), and his wife, Charlotte Jones, a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and a Masters Degree in Nursing Education (RN, MS, BSN), moved to Florida with the aspiration of helping others, they had no idea what kind of impact starting a Comfort Keepers would have on Bradenton and its surrounding communities. Today, with over eight years of local service, this husband and wife team has helped countless seniors receive the warm, personalized care that has become synonymous with the Comfort Keepers brand.
If you or a loved one live in the Bradenton area and are looking for the best possible in-home care, Comfort Keepers is the solution. Our goal is to provide clients with every opportunity to live full, independent and dignified lives within the comfort of their own homes. To do that, we provide these and many other valuable services:
- Errand Services & Transportation Assistance
- Interactive Caregiving™ & Companionship
- Light Housekeeping & Meal Preparation
- Respite for Families & Caregivers
- Medication Reminders
- 24-Hour Care
"How does Comfort Keepers set the standard in home care?"
Professional Caregivers
Every individual Comfort Keeper® is carefully selected, screened, and trained to give capable and compassionate care for families and seniors. To become a “Comfort Keeper,” our carefully selected and trained caregivers, one must undergo a thorough and rigorous screening process. We are extremely selective, hiring on average only 1 for every 30 who call us for employment. Rather than just meeting the minimum state requirements or hiring quickly to fill a need, we conduct an extensive series of background checks, including credit checks, nationwide and local criminal checks, driving checks and drug tests for every single applicant.
We also require our Comfort Keepers to undergo rigorous training which, we believe, is second to none, in addition to the CPR and Alzheimer’s training each Comfort Keeper receives. The next phase of their development is called Interactive Caregiver Training, a critical aspect of care that Comfort Keepers has developed and formalized. This preparation enables our Bradenton caregivers to create an environment of engaging and stimulating interaction, thereby cultivating mental vitality and emotional wellbeing for each of our clients.
To provide the ultimate peace of mind, we take many unique steps to protect you and your loved ones. It is extremely important, we believe, to only hire Comfort Keepers as employees, thereby enabling us to supervise, insure, bond, and cover our employees with Workmans’ compensation. And to make sure you don’t become an accidental employer, we also handle all payroll taxes (Click to see “How to Choose an Agency”).
But knowing how to do the job—as critical as that is—isn’t quite enough. Our Comfort Keepers are unique because each must pass not only our psychological behavioral test, but also what we refer to as the “lovability test.” We hold our Comfort Keepers to the absolute highest standards, but if we don’t sense a big, warm, tender heart, they’re not invited to join our team. We only accept the most dedicated, wonderful, caring people to work for our organization, because all agencies are not alike. Many people can become a caregiver; only a few can be a Comfort Keeper. Making Every Moment of Life Matter
We know that quality care isn’t only about making sure your mother’s kitchen is clean and her laundry is done. Quality care means keeping your mother engaged in her life and providing her choices that will keep her outlook positive. We call it Interactive Caregiving™ and it is a philosophy of care derived from numerous studies and practical experience. It is about “doing with” versus “doing for” because we know that keeping a senior physically and mentally active helps them enjoy better
Personalized Home Care Service
One of our trained team members will help provide quality information every time you contact us, even after hours, because we always have a live person available to speak with. To determine you or your loved one’s needs, we provide a free initial in-home assessment. We help design a plan of care while working around your schedule and including family and your other advisors.
Because we treat each of our clients as an individual, we take such extraordinary consideration in matching our clients with just the right Comfort Keeper. After assessing the client’s personality and interests, only then do we match a client with a Comfort Keeper. We also work to develop a unique program that keeps our clients mentally and physically challenged, to fit his or her specific needs.
Since our unique Bradenton caregivers can work anywhere from a few hours, full-time, and everything in between, our clients also have the say in how much time his or her Comfort Keeper will work. By constantly obtaining feedback from our Comfort Keepers, once a program is up and running we make sure to keep all parties updated of any possible concerns and important changes we make.
Setting the standard in Excellence of Care means that we provide ongoing reassessments for our clients and send supervisors to the home even after hours and on weekends if necessary. This allows us to confirm that your loved one is happy and consistently receiving the level of service he or she needs.
Industry Leaders
The company philosophy of Comfort Keepers is to “provide nothing but excellence” and “always do the right thing.” These self-imposed regulations, which may sound cliché to an outsider, are regarded as company philosophy, and they hold us to the absolute highest standards. We not only set the bar for local in-home care—we also pride ourselves in being nationally-recognized industry leaders.
Comfort Keepers is one of the largest in-home care agencies in the U.S., so you can rest assured knowing we have the backing, experience, and knowledge to deal with any situation. Currently, Comfort Keepers has over 550 locations worldwide, including locations in Canada, Australia, and Singapore, and as far back as 2003 Comfort Keepers was listed as the #1 agency in Senior Care by Entrepreneur Magazine. Our size as a global organization allows our part-time residents to have Comfort Keepers consistency when they change locations, while being locally owned gives us the freedom to provide superb personal service right here in Manatee County.
Because each office is independently owned and operated, the success of the Bradenton office relies heavily on the leadership and guidance of its owners, Michael and Charlotte Jones. Charlotte Jones, RN, MS, BSN, currently supervises, trains, and assists the home health aides of Comfort Keepers, while Michael Jones, C.S.A., continues to lead and expand the office, which has consistently ranked as one of the top Comfort Keepers in the nation.
The Comfort Keepers franchise is comprised of a network of special individuals committed to providing comforting care solutions. In fact, many of our Comfort Keepers were drawn to this business as a result of their own experiences in caring for a loved one. It’s this combination of an experienced, knowledgeable support base with unique, caring individuals that makes Comfort Keepers today’s standard of in-home care.
Specific Services
We provide a wide-range of specific services for elderly care. The following are just a few:
Interactive Caregiving™: Our approach to in-home care is called Interactive Caregiving™. It is integral to how we care for seniors and other adults so they can live the highest possible quality of life in the comfort of their own homes. Research indicates that keeping seniors mentally, physically, emotionally and socially engaged helps them to enjoy a higher quality of life, retain better cognitive function, stay healthier and live independently longer. Interactive Caregiving™ (ICG) is a holistic way of delivering care that encompasses physical activity, mental stimulation, social engagement and emotional health that can genuinely change a person’s life. There is significant data that supports that when care is delivered interactively, it can reduce the risk of depression and improve physical health.
Companionship Care: With interactive supervised care programs such as friendly conversation, exercise and recreational activities, healthy meal preparation, family relief, and medication reminders, companionship care is like having a surrogate family member in the home.
Going Home with Comfort Keepers: When someone needs post-hospital support, transportation, and care, Comfort Keepers is the solution. We integrate services with Medicare providers, consult with your discharge planner, and do all the other things vital to make going home a more comfortable transition, including picking up medications, cleaning home, food shopping, meal preparation, and 24 hour care for safety if needed.
Emergency Response System: We are one of the largest installers and managers of emergency response systems, which enable individuals to summon help in an emergency at the touch of a button. As a developing form of emergency monitoring, an emergency response system can be customized by our consultants from a whole range of the latest technology available today.
Medication Management System: The right meds at the right time is critical to reducing hospitalization. To continually monitor an individual’s therapeutic medication regimen, Comfort Keepers is one of the larger consultants and distributors of everything from reminder programs to actual medication dispensers.
Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care: As a preferred provider for the Alzheimer’s Association, we require all our Bradenton caregivers to have an advanced type of Alzheimer’s training for memory, dementia, and Alzheimer’s care that many other in-home care agencies do not.
End of Life Support: We help our clients preserve their dignity and provide a quality of life that can only be achieved at home. Often used as a supplement to hospice care, our compassionate and caring End of Life Support offers a level of sensitivity, care, and support during especially emotional situations that is invaluable to the client and their families.
Home Management Services: Our consultative approach and years of experience enable us to assist our clients by referring them to the appropriate professionals that can address any need that arises. From bill paying to balance specialists. From attorneys to plumbers to trust officers, from grab bars to medical equipment and supplies, we have the relationships to make your life easier.
