Comfort Keepers® of Mooresville, N.C., is the area’s premier provider of in-home care for seniors and other adults who need assistance with the activities of daily living. Since 2001, we have worked hard to create a one-stop, total care solution that enables clients to maintain the highest level of independence and quality of life in the comfort of their own homes.

We customize care plans to meet each client and family’s unique needs, from as little as one hour a week, to provide family caregivers a break, to full-time, around-the-clock care. We serve all of Iredell County, including Mooresville, Troutman and Statesville, North Carolina.

Our People Make the Difference

Lori Eberly opened the Mooresville Comfort Keepers franchise in 2001 to help seniors and families find effective, life-enriching in-home solutions to their care needs. Lori, a Professional Geriatric Care Manager since 2005, holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Health Administration. She has 10 years of experience in long-term elder care and finds great fulfillment in helping families manage the responsibility of caring for an aging loved one.

We have a compassionate, professional staff of more than 200 in-home aides and certified nurse’s aides, who we call Comfort Keepers®. We are available to serve clients and their families 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

All of our administrative staff members are educated and experienced in senior care:

Beverly Patterson, Care Coordinator, originally joined Comfort Keepers as a caregiver in 2003 and has worked as an Administrative Assistant and Staffing Coordinator. She was promoted to Care Coordinator for North Mecklenburg and Iredell counties in 2008. She has been a great asset to Comfort Keepers due to her caring, compassionate and gentle nature.

Emily Propst, Staffing Coordinator, joined Comfort Keepers in July 2008. She has an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Roanoke College and a graduate degree in Gerontology from UNC-Charlotte.

Sheena Head, RN, joined Comfort Keepers in 2008, working part-time as a Certified Nurse’s Aide until she completed her RN degree in June 2009, when she was promoted to Nurse Consultant for Iredell and Mecklenburg counties. She conducts caregiver training, supervisory visits, client assessments and quarterly client reviews.

Emily Overcash, Marketing Coordinator, joined Comfort Keepers in December 2007. She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with minors in Social Work and Gerontology. Emily is very energetic and passionate about helping seniors and their families.

Pam Nonemaker, Human Resources and Administrative Assistant, joined Comfort Keepers in October 2007. She has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from West Chester University. Pam handles all incoming calls, human resources and office management in Iredell and Mecklenburg counties.

The Advantages of Comfort Keepers

  • We offer the most comprehensive caregiver screening and training program to assure you the best caregivers in the business. Our Comfort Keepers complete 15 hours of initial training, an additional eight hours of training in the office, and work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Our caregiver retention rate exceeds the industry average, assuring you and your loved one reliability and continuity of care.
  • We’re available to take your calls, answer your questions and respond to your needs 24/7.
  • We offer clients and families a one-stop solution to in-home care. We offer Geriatric Care Management Services, Emergency Response Systems, select nursing services, and partner with a network of other health and senior care providers—including home health agencies, assisted living facilities, and nursing homes—to connect clients with services that Comfort Keepers does not provide.

We encourage you to compare our in-home care services to those of other elder care providers. To help you in your search for a provider we offer a convenient “20 Questions to Ask” brochure.

A Comprehensive Range of Services

Comfort Keepers offers an extensive range of services, enabling us to tailor care plans to meet each client’s unique needs. These services include:

Companionship care, including conversation, meal preparation, laundry, light housekeeping, incidental transportation, errands, grooming and dressing assistance, standby assistance with bathing and medication reminders.

Personal care, including hands-on assistance with bathing, hair care, shaving, special diet needs, toileting, skin care and transferring/ambulation.

Certified Care, designed for clients who require extensive assistance with the activities of daily living. Under North Carolina law, this type of service is provided by Certified Nurse’s Aides who have been trained by a Registered Nurse, have demonstrated their skills to an RN and are under the supervision of an RN.

Share the Care Program, for people who live in independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing or naturally occurring retirement communities. This program allows individuals to purchase Comfort Keepers services in 15-minute increments—rather than the standard hourly increments, so long as others in the community are receiving services.

Registered Nurse Consultations, which, under North Carolina licensure requirements, are offered quarterly to each client who receives any service other than companion care. Comfort Keepers clients may choose to pay for additional RN visits for evaluations or nursing recommendations.

Geriatric Care Management Services, provided and coordinated by Lori Eberly, the Mooresville Comfort Keepers owner and Professional Geriatric Care Manager. These services help clients and families assess and plan for their senior care needs. Also available to the general public, these services are provided at a discounted rate to Comfort Keepers clients. The services include care planning, future care needs, client safety assessments, care recommendations, research, recommended reference materials for families, and more.

SafetyChoice® by Comfort Keepers, a line of technology-based in-home care solutions that supplement and augment senior care provided by Comfort Keepers and family caregivers. These include:

  • Personal Emergency Response System (PERS), a medical alert device, monitored 24 hours a day by a central call center and which summons help at the touch of a button.
  • PERS Accessories, also monitored by the central call center, include smoke and carbon monoxide detectors; motion detectors; wireless floor mats that monitor the movement of clients such as those at risk of falling or prone to wander due to dementia; and door and window contacts.
  • Medication Coordination System, which reminds clients to take medications, dispenses the drugs as prescribed and alerts caregivers if a dose is not taken.
  • Personal Location Device, powered by GPS technology and carried securely in a variety of belt and arm clips, helps locate seniors who become lost away from home.
  • Fall Detector, clipped to a senior’s clothing, alerts the central monitoring station when a senior falls.

Alzheimer’s/Dementia Care, provided by Comfort Keepers who have completed special training.

Post-Hospital Care and Support to assist clients with the activities of daily living as they recover at home from injury, illness or surgery.

Hospice Care to assist clients and families who are being cared for through a local hospice program.

Additional Services that provide for very specific needs, such as bath visits, “tuck-in” service at night, “rise and shine” service in the morning, and sleepover and live-in services.

Comfort Keepers provides a free in-home assessment to help seniors and their families determine the right care plan to fit their needs. Someone is available in our office 24/7 to answer your calls and questions.
